Arthur Lee "Sonny" Backherms, 59, of Lexington, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. He was born on July 26, 1964, in New Albany, Indiana to Clarence Backherms and Doris (Vert) Fearon, who proceed him. He was one of a dying breed, a righteous man in all ways. He was a self-taught artist and a philosopher. He went by many names, brother, uncle, friend and was most proud of husband (Cecilia), stepdad (Jessica), and Papaw (Danielle Mitchell and Rylee Hall), also arsehole to a very special few. He is also survived by sisters, Vera Leonhardt, Vikki Calhaun, Edna Backherms, and Virginia Ryan; brother, Dewight Backherms; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be a party in honor of Sonny at a later date. Cremation was entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
