Bartha Columbus "BC" Deans, Jr., 88, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at his home with family by his side. He was born on December 24, 1935, in Goldsboro, North Carolina, the son of the late Bartha Columbus Deans Sr. and Irene Patience (Futrell) Deans. BC graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. On May 26, 1973, he wed Rosemary (Rea) Deans, and they were happily married for over 50 years. He enjoyed a 40 year career with CSX Transportation, and when he wasn't working, he loved having fun times with his friends, as well as hunting, fishing and boating. He was known for his love of the water, nature, animals, music, and witty one-liners. He never met a stranger, and he was a loving husband, father, Papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a friend to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bart Deans; and four sisters, Margaret Deans Roper, Annie Deans Ross, Maurel Deans Babson, and Barbara Deans Hardwick.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary, four sons, Stephen (Sue) Deans, Michael Deans, David (Sarah) Deans, Joseph (Amy) Deans; daughter, Meredith (Jamie) Gardner; grandchildren, Timothy (Felicia) Deans, Matthew Deans, Katherine Deans, Joseph (Ashley) Deans, Michael Deans, Sam Deans, Audrey Deans, Carson Deans, Taylor Deans, Madison Gardner, and Anna Gardner; great grandchildren, Colby Deans, Nolan Deans, Quinn Deans, Tanner Deans, Miles Mason and Makenna Mason.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of life luncheon will be held at 1:00 PM.
