Bessie Mae Kirkpatrick, 76, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Riverview Village in Clarksville, Indiana. On September 1, 1945, in Columbus, Mississippi, she was born to Isiah Allen and Nettie Will (Gray) Stubbins, who preceded her in death. Bessie was known for her beautiful smile and was loved by many. She was an incredibly active member of Jones Memorial AME Zion Church in New Albany, Indiana. Bessie served as an usher, a member of the woman day choir, and worked in the kitchen at the church until her health prohibited her from doing so. In addition, she volunteered for many years feeding the youth hot breakfast for Sunday school. She also was a member of the Elks Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Troy Redd; brother, Fred Donald; sisters, Sadie Grate and Mattie Dean. Survivors include two daughters, Martean Redd and Marchae Welcher; three sons, Roger Redd, Tyyu (Jackee) Redd, and Sean Dedrick; five sisters, Lillie Sowell, Gladys Brent, Detria Allen, Sylvia (Lionel) Bishop, Ebet Stubbins. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Funeral Service: 12:00 Noon Saturday August 6, 2022, at Jones Memorial AME Zion Church in New Albany, Indiana with Rev. Michelle Washington officiating.
