James K. "Jim" Burrell, ,98, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at the Lake Iola Assisted Living in Scottsburg, Indiana. He was born on June 25, 1922 in Big Bend, Kentucky, the son of the late Richard W. Burrell and Mary Ellen (Herbaugh) Burrell. Jim was married on April 27, 1947 to the love of his life, Jane (Myers) Burrell, who preceded him in death on December 16, 2016. He retired in 1987 as a communication craftsman for AT & T where he worked for 39 years and after retirement also worked for the Scottsburg Parks Department for many years. Jim was a member of the Scottsburg Presbyterian Church, a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran of WW II and a member of the Scott County VFW Post # 6582. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Roni Burrell; a brother, Richard; two sisters, Gertie and Dorothy and a niece, Karen. Survivors include a son, James Rogers "Jim" Burrell of Louisville, Kentucky; a daughter, Julie Kaye Egbert and her husband Rusty of Austin, Indiana; one grandson, Brad Burrell and several nieces and nephews. Jim's family would like to thank Miner's Assisted Living and Kindred Hospice for the care and support given to their family during this time. Cremation services were entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. A military graveside service and burial will be held at a later date at Leavenworth Memorial Gardens in Leavenworth, Indiana.
