Alvnell "Avie" Leach, 77, of Scottsburg, Indiana took her first breath in heaven on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at her residence with her family by her side. She was born on July 23, 1944, in McDowell, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Marion Jackson and Mary (Fannin) Ousley. She attended Borden High School. On August 2, 1986, she married Gary Leach, who survives. She was a former employee of Hitachi Cable in New Albany, Indiana. Avie enjoyed Tv Land, word searches and sewing. She was a member of Turning Point Church of Scottsburg. In addition to her birth parents Avie is preceded in death by her adopted parents, Howard and Ruby Souder; daughter, Shannon Wells; grandson, Nathan Alexander; two brothers, Elmer and Raymond Ousley. Survivors include her husband, Gary; son-in-law, Dave Wells of Campbellsburg, Indiana; two daughters, Michelle (Roger) Yount of Lexington, Indiana and Sandy (Tom) Shawler of Underwood, Indiana; stepchildren, Stacy (Scott) Imel of Madison, Indiana, Brent (April) Leach of Deputy, Indiana and Hollie Leach of Midway, Indiana; siblings, Mickey Ousley of Austin, Indiana, Billy (JoAnn) Ousley of Kendallville, Indiana, Wanda Kale of Coldwater, Michigan, Dan (Sandy) Ousley of Union City, Michigan, Patricia Ward of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Ed Bates of Hicksville, Ohio; grandchildren, Mark (Katie) Hibbs, Craig (Sarah) Thomas, John (Missy) Shawler, David (Meghan) Wells, Maranda (Nate) Jenkins, Daniel Wells, Erin (Barry) West, Breanna (Ricky) Boman, Quincy Yount, Levi (Heidi) Shawler; step grandchildren, Kyle (Danielle) Imel, Kaylee (Ricky) Wright, Jacob Leach, and Lily Leach; great grandchildren, Michael West, Wyatt Jenkins, Memphis Jenkins, McKenna Welty, Madelyn Thomas and Anna Thomas; step great grandchildren, Vina Wright, William Wright, Brenten Wright, Brack Clayton-Wright, Emily Imel, Adalynn Imel, and Liam Palmer. Funeral Service: 11 am Monday, January 31, 2022, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Pastor Jon Jackson officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday, January 30, 2022, and after 10 am Monday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment at Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, Indiana.
