Anthony/"Tony" R Balzer, 58, a 24-year resident of Scottsburg, passed peacefully
into the Great Beyond, Wednesday, 11 May 2022, at his home.
Mr. Balzer was born 26 April 1964 in Amherst, Ohio, to Conrad/"Connie" H. Balzer,
Jr., and his wife, Julia/"Judy" F. (Jones) Balzer, and lived the majority of his early
life in nearby Vermilion, Ohio, where he graduated Vermilion High School in 1982.
Mr. Balzer had an illustrious 25+ year career in Social Services, helping persons
with developmental challenges obtain employment and lead productive lives.
Mr. Balzer's interests included Architecture, Arts & Craft, Automobiles, Democrat-
ic Politics, Interior Design and Travel.
Preceding Mr. Balzer in Death are his four Grandparents, father, mother, two ma-
ternal Uncles, three maternal Aunts, a paternal half brother, two paternal half sis-
ters, his de facto adoptive Grandparents, Earl L. & Edith M. Miller, and his de facto
adoptive parents, Gerald E. & Barbara A. Stutsman.
Surviving Mr. Balzer are his paternal Aunts, Julia A. Jones, Vermilion, Ohio, Clara
M. Rongyos, Amherst, Ohio, and Jeanette M. Akers, of Texas, his maternal Uncle,
John B. Jones, Jacksonville, Florida, his maternal Uncle and his wife, James A. &
Carol A. Jones, Shepherdsville, Kentucky, his double first cousins, Monica A.
Jones, Vermilion, Ohio, and Marsha A. Jones, Lorain, Ohio, several other first
cousins, his de facto adoptive brother, S. E. Stutsman, Scottsburg, and his de fac-
to adoptive sister and niece, Johanna M. Polk and Hannah M. Dickens, of Jeffer-
sonville, Indiana.
Mr. Balzer will be laid to rest next to his mother at 10 a.m., Saturday, 18 June 2022,
in the New Harmony/Mineral Springs Cemetery in Sand Creek Township,
Bartholomew County, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts of Condolence, the Family of Mr. Balzer humbly
