Arthur Gene Mayer, 77, of Scottsburg, Indiana, died on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. He was born on May 3, 1943 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late Elmer C. Mayer and Opal Olivia (Hedges) Mayer. Gene was partner and co-owner of Total Concepts of Design, Inc. in Scottsburg, Indiana and co-owner of Vision Property Management Co. He served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class, was a member of the American Legion Post # 234, a Model Airplane Flying club and a lifetime member of the NRA. Gene enjoyed going on hunts, was a gun enthusiast and was always looking for a new adventure. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Donna (Campbell) Mayer; a son, Joseph Todd Mayer of Scottsburg, Indiana; two daughters, Crystal Dawn (Bobby) Coomer and Karen Nicole Mayer-Sebastian all of Scottsburg, Indiana; a brother, Charles E. (Angela) Mayer of Scottsburg, Indiana; a sister, Cheryl A. (Dale) Sharp of Scottsburg, Indiana; four grandchildren, Sean Mayer (Sammy), Mitchel Sebastian (Dakota), Noah Sebastian and Chace Coomer and one great grandson, Kyler Mayer. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Brett Mayer. Graveside service: 12:00 noon on Monday at Scottsburg Cemetery. Visitation: 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. For those visiting the family, Gene passed from complications due to COVID-19, therefore visitation and services will be open to the public and social distancing guidelines will be strictly enforced for the safety of the family, our staff and all who choose to come. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate. There will be no exceptions to the guidelines and face mask requirement.
