Barbara Lee Ashley, 78, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on August 7, 1941 in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Whitledge Jr. and Dorothy L. (Henson) Whitledge. Barbara graduated from Ballard High School in Seattle, Washington and later attended Spencerian College of Nursing. She was married on Sept. 16, 1960 to Hubert H. Ashley, who survives. Barbara was a former certified nursing assistant at the old William's Manor Nursing Home and Hickory Creek both in Scottsburg, Indiana and a member of the Scaffold Lick Baptist Church near Austin, Indiana. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and also collected salt and pepper shakers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael H. Ashley. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Hubert H. Ashley; two sons, Bobby (Alicia) Ashley and John (Peggy) Ashley all of Scottsburg, Indiana; three daughters, Theresa Miller of Scottsburg, Indiana, Kristi Polson of Sellersburg, Indiana and Becki (Mickey) Hall of Scottsburg, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Lorna Johnson, Chelsea Law, Mikael, Shelbi and Emily McLemore, Mickey L. Hall, Jr., Chance Miller, Baylee, Jayla, Caitelynn and Johnathan Ashley and eight great grandchildren, Jordan and Brycen Johnson, Violet Vires, Chloe, Brayden and Charlie Law, Jade McLemore and Brooklynn Floyd. Private Funeral Service: 4:00 pm on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Collins Funeral Home with cremation requested following the services. Services may be viewed on Collins Funeral Home's Facebook page at 4:00 pm on Friday, July 3, 2020. Visitation: 2 to 4 pm on Friday at Collins Funeral Home. Visitation will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed.
