Barbara Sue (Gray) Shepherd, 76 of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was born on November 24, 1943 in Corbin Glow Hollow, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Fulton Coots and Doshie (Gray) Hunter. Barbara was a homemaker and also had worked at the old U.S. Shoe Factory, Morgan Foods and the old Indusco Company. Although she wasn't a member of a specific church, she enjoyed visiting and attending many churches with her daughter. Barbara loved reading, studying her Bible, visiting nursing homes and singing hymns for the residents, drawing and coloring books. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald E. Shepherd; her mother and stepfather, Doshie (Gray) and Junior F. Hunter; her father, Fulton Coots; two brothers, Jackie Hunter and Charles Gray and two sisters, Shirley Spicer and Mary Kay Gates. Survivors include a son, Ricky Eugene Shepherd (Sibel) of Kaieserslautern, Germany; three daughters, Vickie Sue Shepherd of Lexington, Indiana, Patricia Lee Williams and Sandra Kay Williams (Alonzo) all of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Gilbertson of Lexington, Indiana and Betty Sue Haley (Dave) of Auxier, Kentucky; two brothers, Lonnie Coots (Olga) of Columbus, Ohio and Merrill Coots (Helen) of Viper, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Donnie Chambers (Katye), Maria Shepherd, Chasity Jones (Charles), Christina Shepherd (Alejandro), Gabriel Shepherd, Cody Williams, Brittany Stacy (James), Vanessa and Kayla Shepherd and eight great grandchildren, Casandra, Riley, Hailey, Maci, Keelea, McKinley, Carter and Kashton. Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Collins Funeral Home with Chaplain T.C. Baker officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday and after 9 am on Thursday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment will be in New Bethel Cemetery near Chelsea, Indiana.
