Obituary

Betty Lou Harvey, 85 of New Albany, Indiana passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at, Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. She was born on January 27, 1938 in Coal City, West Virginia, to the late Henry Wilber Cole and Winnie M (Bowling) Cole. She was an Instructional Assistant at New Albany and Floyd County Schools in New Albany, Indiana and was the manager of Harvey's Wig Villa. Betty loved her job at the school where the kids were the highlight of her day. She enjoyed cooking, being outdoors, listening to music, watching music shows, and especially watching University of Louisville Cardinals and West Virginia Mountaineers basketball. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family and watching her grand kid's sporting events. On August 06, 1960 she married Robert Earl Harvey in Beckley, West Virginia, and he preceded her in death in 2022. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill Cole and Jim Cole; and one sister Mary Ellen Wiseman. Survivors include, one daughter, Beth Harvey of New Albany, Indiana; three grandchildren, Gabrielle Jordan (Nicholas Thrasher) Harvey of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, Katlyn Tyler (Nicholas) Broaddus of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, and Jaden Cole Johnson of New Albany, Indiana; and three great grandchildren, Kylin Hunter Broaddus, Finleigh Grace Broaddus, and Myla Jo Rae Broaddus. Visitation will be from 3 until the time of service at 6:00 pm on Wednesday January 10, 2024 at Abundant Life Christian Church NA with Steve Schoch officiating.
