Betty Jo Lewis, 77, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on April 6, 1943 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the daughter of the late Robert Harold Donahue and Effie Mae (Polk) Donahue. Betty graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1961 and then later completed her studies at the Graduate Real Estate Institute at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She was married on Sept. 8, 1962 to Gary Gene Lewis, who preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 2019. Betty owned and operated the old Hair by Betty Salon in Scottsburg, Indiana for 58 years, was a real estate agent for the Jack Bridgewater Real Estate Company and former owner of the old B.J. Home Finders. She was a member of the Scottsburg United Methodist Church, an inactive member of the Phi Beta Psi Sorority, member of the Southern Indiana Real Estate Association, National Association of Realtors and the Indiana Association of Realtors. Betty also enjoyed swimming and loved spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Jean Bayes and a daughter-in-law, Sarah Lewis. Survivors include two sons, Gary Gene Lewis, II of Deputy, Indiana and Tom Lewis and his wife Michele of Seymour, Indiana; a brother, Pastor Jim Donahue and his wife Patricia of Scottsburg, Indiana and three grandchildren, Mariah Lewis of Bloomington, Indiana and Bailey and Grace Lewis of Seymour, Indiana. Cremation services were entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Cana Cemetery near Uniontown, Indiana with Pastor James Donahue officiating.
