Betty J. Schmittler, 86, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at The Waters of Scottsburg in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on February 26, 1935, in Salem, Indiana, the daughter of the late Clay Stacy and Opal (Dotts) Gray. On July 31, 1965, she married Thomas H. Schmittler, who passed away July 5, 2007. Betty was a retired machine operator at Cummins Engine Company Walesboro, Indiana. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by her sister, June Edwards. Survivors include two sons, Mike (Sharon) Schmittler of Scottsburg, Indiana and Tommy Schmittler of Scottsburg, Indiana; three sisters, Pat Hawn of Scottsburg, Indiana, Karen McVay of Salem, Indiana, Freda (Mark) Swillinger of Louisville, Kentucky; great nephew, Jerick Patton of Scottsburg, Indiana; and three grandchildren, Sarah, Brian and Matt. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Phil LaMaster officiating. Visitation: 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 28, 2021, and after 10:00 am Wednesday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
