Obituary

Billy Sneed, 74, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on March 22, 1946 in Columbia, Kentucky, the son of the late Johnny and Mamie (Jones) Sneed. Billy was a retired welder for Arvin Industries in Franklin, Indiana and was also a former employee of Webb's Saw Mill and Amos Veneer Mill both in Edinburgh, Indiana He attended the Safe Harbor Church of God in Scottsburg, Indiana. Billy enjoyed fishing, working on antique clocks and going to yard sales and flee markets. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Marion, Mont and Arvis Sneed and a sister, Delsie Redman. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Benita Gayle (Wheeler) Sneed; two sons, Tim Allen Osborne (Charlotte) of Scottsburg, Indiana and Ricky Dean Osborne (Amy) of Versailles, Indiana; a daughter, Lisa Ann Vermillion (Tony) of Deputy, Indiana; two sisters including his twin, Betty Benedict (John) of Lebanon, Tennessee and Doris Smith (Clayton) of Edinburgh, Indiana; a brother, Alton Sneed (Sharon) of Anderson, Indiana and three grandchildren, Brandon Michael, Kristen Michelle and Tiffany Paige Vermillion. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020 at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Wendall Eldridge officiating. Funeral services may also be viewed on Collins Funeral Home's Facebook page at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. Visitation: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.
