IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carrie Lee
West
September 6, 1925 – June 5, 2025
Carrie Lee (Baker) West achieved most of her life goals – being a wife, raising three children and
watching grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. There was one goal she didn't reach – she
missed reaching her 100th birthday by 93 days.
With heavy hearts and joyful memories, the family and friends of Carrie Lee West, announce her
peaceful passing on June 5, 2025, at the age of 99. She was born in Levee, Kentucky, on September 6,
1925, to Perry and Lida Baker. Carrie Lee graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1945 and lived in
Scott County all her adult life. Her faith was strong as a member of First Christian Church in
Scottsburg.
After high school she worked several jobs, including at the Jay C grocery store, The Lloyd Jones
Insurance Agency and the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. She dedicated her life to home and
family as her children were born. As well as being a dedicated mother, she had a passion for vegetable
gardening, canning, and cooking. Her love language was food. Never did you leave her table hungry –
if you did, it wasn't for lack of food! She prided herself in knowing people's favorite dishes and
making sure they were available for many occasions. Those who knew her will always remember her
pies, peanut brittle, and fudge among many other things.
With three children holding Purdue degrees, she became an avid Purdue men's basketball fan, right
through this season. Her greatest pride and focus were her children, Ronald (and Mary Jo) West of
Scottsburg, Michael (and Judy) West of Knoxville, TN, and Lori (and Kevin) Eikenberry of Indianapolis.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren include: Evan (and Christa) West, and their children
Mason, Maxwell and Madelyn; Allyson (and Zlatan) Hodzic, and their children Jack and Charlie;
Lindsey (and Phillip) Kinney, and their children Elliot, Austin and Theo Kinney; Chase (and Rachel)
West, and their son Milo, Paige (and Dillon) Rheuby, Parker (and Marisa) Eikenberry, and Kelsey
Eikenberry (and her fiancé, Haaris Malik).
She in preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lynn West, her brothers, Homer, Jesse and
Edward Baker, her sisters, Betty Robbins and Lottie Howell and her grandson, Tanner Eikenberry.
Carrie's legacy will be honored in a celebration of life that will be held at a future date. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the First Christian Church in Scottsburg.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Collins Funeral Home of Scottsburg. Please share memories
and condolences at www.collinsfuneralhome.net.
