Cecil G. Smith, 88, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at his residence. He was born on May 31, 1932 in Russell Springs, Kentucky, the son of the late W.C. Smith and Georgia (McQuery) Smith. He was married to the late Shirley Temple Hall. Cecil was a self-employed carpenter. He loved his tomato garden and was better known as the " Mater Man". He was especially fond of "Libbie", his daughter Julie's dog. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by five brothers, Bill, Eddie, Charles, Lester and Albert Smith and two sisters, Thelma Wilson and Mary Parker. He is survived by his daughter, Julie Smith, of Scottsburg, Indiana. Funeral Service is Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 1:00 pm, at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor John Lowry officiating. Visitation is from 10 am to 1 pm Wednesday at Collins Funeral Home. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate.
