Charles O. Murphy, 85, of Underwood, Indiana passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on January 9, 1937, in Underwood, Indiana, the son of the late Philip Murphy and Mary (Elrod) Murphy. Charles attended number eight school in Underwood, Indiana through the eighth grade, where he met his wife of 63 years. He then went on to graduate from Scottsburg High School in 1955. On July 5, 1959, he married Nancy (Denney) Murphy, who survives. He was a former employee of the old U.S. Shoe Corporation in Crothersville, Indiana for eighteen years. He then spent a few years working for Cummins Engine Plant in Columbus, Indiana. Then, in 1980 he bought what is now known as Murphy's Boot Shop and Repair. He was a lifetime member of the New Chapel United Methodist Church, a lover of people, family, and travel. He was an avid Scottsburg Warriors' fan and attended numerous basketball games throughout the years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edwin and John Murphy; two sisters, Marjorie Collins and Bonna Burns. In addition to his wife, Nancy, Charles is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Vince) DiNoto of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Cristy (Kerry) Catt of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren, Braden (Carolyne) Catt, Sarah (Kris) Catt, Emily DiNoto, and Trey DiNoto; one great grandchild, Octavius Catt; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, October 3, 2022, at New Chapel United Methodist Church in Underwood, Indiana and after 9:00 am Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment at Clark's Chapel Cemetery in Underwood, Indiana.
