Charlotte Lee Roberts, 93, of Lexington, Indiana passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on October 30, 1930 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, to the late Charles Miller and Lois (Walden) Miller Rutherford. She was a lifetime member of Bethel Baptist Church of Leota and a former employee of Madison State Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Charlotte graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1948 and then went on to pursue her nursing degree from Kentucky Baptist College. She was very proud to be a nurse and carried her nursing license until she was 92 years old. She was a member of the American Nurses Association. Charlotte loved crocheting, sewing, canning, and bailing hay, but most of all she loved being with her family. On August 18, 1950 she married J.C. Roberts, Jr., and he preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Hugh Rutherford; two daughters, Pamela Kay Hawkins and Jennifer Dee Roberts; one son, Randall Carl Roberts; one grandson Joshua Clayton Roberts and three stepsisters, Irene (William) Graham, Helen (William) Strouse, and Genevieve (Russell) Waggoner. Survivors include her daughter, Karen J. Shelley of Lexington, Indiana; three grandchildren, Kevin J. (Wendy) Shelley of Burlington, Kentucky, Kayla Hawkins (Alex) Porter of Corydon, Indiana, and Randall Craig (Brittany) Roberts of Lexington, Indiana; eight great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Ida Rena Strouse of Bee Spring, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Pastor Bruce Bridgewater officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Collins Funeral Home from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm.
