Cheryl Lee Barnett, 71, of Salem, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at her residence. She was born on February 15, 1949 in Freemont, Michigan, the daughter of the late Floyd and Joyce (Whieten) Deater. Cheryl was a private home health caregiver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Barnett and a sister, Judy Deater. Survivors include two sons, Jason Sonke of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Mike Peterson of Scottsburg, Indiana; three brothers, Tom Deater of Grant, Michigan, Floyd Deater of San Antonio, Texas and John Deater of Whitehall, Michigan and six grandchildren, William, Julia and Blake Peterson, Desarae, Layla and Tyler Sonke.
