Christopher Morris

Christopher Morris, 55, of Henryville, Indiana, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 9th, 2026. He was born on December 20th, 1970, in Scottsburg, Indiana, to the late Troy Morris and surviving Betty (Napier) Williams. Chris lived a life characterized by service to his family, his country, and his community. Chris graduated from Austin High School in 1989 and enlisted in the United States Navy. Chris proudly served in the United States Navy from December 1989 until his honorable discharge in December 1996. He served his country in operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. While serving he received a Sailor of the Quarter award aboard the USS Denver. During his service, Chris married the love of his life, Kimberly Dismore, on March 31st, 1990. The couple had two beautiful children together: Christopher and Kayla. Upon returning home, Chris dedicated himself to a career with the United States Postal Service, later retiring as the Post Master of Scottsburg with unwavering diligence and attention to detail. In his earlier years, he was an avid runner, enjoyed playing basketball, and loved fishing and hunting with his brother. Later in life, he filled his time with family, good movies and watched many Kentucky Wildcat basketball games. In addition to his personal interests, Chris was known for his sense of humor and enjoyed light-hearted pranks. He was a firm believer in his Christian faith and a member of the Masonic Scott Lodge 120. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Troy; and grandchild, Marian Morris. Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Kim; his children, Christopher Lee (Madeline Elise) Morris and Kayla Mackenzie Morris (Craig McGillan); his mother, Betty Williams; his brother, Hargis Morris; and his grandchildren, Charles Baxter Morris and Molly Mae Morris. The funeral service for Chris Morris will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 1:00pm at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be prior to the service on Tuesday from 10:00am until 1:00pm at Collins Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service with a private burial at a later date. Memorial donations can be made in Chris's name to Disabled American Veterans c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
