Obituary

Claude Braden, 92, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 6, 1930 in Spiceland, Indiana, the son of the late Jesse Braden and Emma Frances (Planck) Braden. On July 23, 1976 he married Betty Jean (Campbell) Braden, who survives. He was a retired machine operator for Cummins Engine Company in Walesboro, Indiana. Claude was a member of the American Legion in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was also a nature lover. Claude loved spending his time at the lake homestead, "Hickory Holler" watching the grandchildren fish, the birds, and animals. He was also a big Kentucky Wildcat fan and a life long farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, MSgt Rick Lynn Braden; sister; Ruby LaMaster; two brothers, Cleo and Carl Braden; and a grandson, David Ford. In addition to his wife, Betty Jean Braden, Claude is survived by one son, Leonard Ponder of Scottsburg, Indiana; three daughters, Terri (Bob) Monahan of Cincinnati, Ohio, Tammy (Rex) Dickson of Scottsburg, Indiana, and Deborah (Mark) Faith of Corydon, Indiana; one brother, Carell (Barbara) Braden of Scottsburg, Indiana; six grandchildren, Brad, Bevin, Sonya, Brooke, Caitlin, and Patrick; and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral Service: 12:00 Noon Friday, May 5, 2023 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation: 10:00 am to 12:00 noon Friday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana. Memorial Contributions to: St. Jude's Research Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project in c/o Collins Funeral Home.
