Claude Gambrell, 83, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on October 11, 1938 in Corbin, Kentucky, the son of the late Elbert Gambrell and Georgia (Williams) Gambrell. On June 10, 1961, he married Myrtle "Mitzie" (Unthank) Gambrell, who survives. While serving in the United States Army, he worked as a Military Police Officer. He worked in insurance and was a self-employed contractor for many years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his six brothers and sisters, Al Gambrell, Allie Campbell, Mildred Gambrell, Georgia Sokolinski, Roy Gambrell, and Ray McPhearson. Survivors include his wife, Mitzie Gambrell; two daughters Tricia (Joey) Murphy of Scottsburg, Indiana and Elise (Russell) Yates of Zionsville, Indiana; two sons, Claude Alan Gambrell of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Kenny Gambrell of Scottsburg, Indiana; one sister, Hazel (Jack) Roche, of Moravian Falls, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Amy, Kacey, Jake, Nick, and Kensley; and seven great grandchildren. Cremation services were entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Private Family Graveside Services will follow at Uniontown Cemetery.
