Clay Bowling, 80, of Austin, Indiana passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Meadow View Health & Rehab Center in Salem, Indiana. He was born on May 7, 1941, in Richmond, Kentucky, the son of the late George H. Moore Bowling and Verda (Barger) Bowling. He was a member of Trinity House of Prayer and The Safe Harbor Church of God. He joined the U.S. Army in 1958 and served for over 14 years. During his time, he had two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea, known as "Big Red 1". After his service in the military, Clay traveled around the United States building churches and working as a construction superintendent for 16 years. Clay helped construct The Safe Harbor Church of God in Scottsburg, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn "Denise" Nichols of Austin, Indiana; one grandson, Joshua Tolett; three brothers, Albert Bowling, George Bowling, Jr., Charles Bowling; and one sister; Alkalinia Desmond. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Louetta (Campbell) Bowling; three daughters, Amanda G. Lyles of Cleborn, Texas, Rebecca Campbell of Austin, Indiana, and Abigayle P. Bowling of Austin, Indiana; one son, Gregory D. Campbell of Tucson, Arizona; one grandson, Austin (Samatha) Nichols; and one great grandson Xzander Michael Clay Nichols. Graveside Service: 2:30 pm Thursday, December 30,2021 at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. In Lieu of Flowers the family requests donations to the family.
