Connie L. Harbin-Chamness, 81, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at her residence. She was born on May 8, 1940 in Charlestown, Indiana, the daughter of the late Roy Franklin Spencer and Edith Mae (Mannix) Spencer. On April 1, 1982, Connie married Orain Maurice Chamness, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2010. Connie retired in 2009 from the housekeeping department at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana, where she worked for 15 years. She was also a former employee of the old North Clark Community Hospital in Charlestown, Indiana for 15 years. Connie attended the Old Salem United Methodist Church, loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping. She also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds outside her window. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Denett Cole, two stepdaughters, Karla Eskridge and Michelle Cissell; one stepson, David Chamness and one sister, Bessie Ann Rowzee. Survivors include two sons, Rick (Julie) Harbin of New Washington, Indiana and Tony Harbin of Sellersburg, Indiana; a daughter, Sherry (Brian) Heath of Palm Coast Florida; a stepson, John M. Chamness of Charlestown, Indiana; a stepdaughter, Vicki L. Reed of Henryville, Indiana; two brothers, Gene (Jan) Spencer of Memphis, Indiana and Gary Lee (Nancy) Spencer of New Albany, Indiana; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Pastor Tim Lorentzen officiating. Visitation: 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday and after 10:00 am on Friday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment will be at New Bethel Cemetery in Chelsea, Indiana.
