David Vernon, 58, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on February 15, 1965 in Phoenix, Arizona, son of the late James Vernon and Nancy Lee (Clarke) Vernon Whetstone. On April 28, 1996 he married Trina (Elswick) Vernon, who survives. He was a former employee of Caesars Southern Indiana in Elizabeth, Indiana where he worked in maintenance. David loved spending time with his children, wife, family, and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and leather working. In addition to his parents David was preceded in death by one son, Steven Vernon. Survivors include his wife of twenty-seven years, Trina; son, Robert (Karen) Vernon of Cleves, Ohio; daughter, Amber Howard of Milltown, Indiana; twelve grandchildren, Dominic Vernon, Mackenzi Vernon, Alex Montgomery, Alyssa Montgomery, Jasper Vernon, Emily Vernon, Steven Vernon, Joshua Howard, Carlee Howard, Jayce Howard, Isaiah Howard, and Sebastian Howard. Funeral Service 12:00 Noon Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, December 29, 2023, and after 11:00 am Saturday prior to services at Collins Funeral Home. Interment at Rykers Ridge Cemetery Jefferson County, Indiana.
