David A. Weaver, 78, from the Great State of Gibson, entered his heavenly home on October 16, 2022. He was born on January 25, 1944 in Shelbyville, Indiana to Garnet and Dorothy (Miller) Weaver. A 1962 graduate of Salem High School, David enjoyed watching IU basketball and the Salem Lions and Lady Lions. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Church for over 30 years and a proud member of the NRA. David worked at Schneider Nursery in Seymour all through high school and then worked at Cummins Engine Company for 32 years, retiring in 1996. Always a hard worker, in his retirement he continued to mow lawns and cemeteries, raise goats, help friends and family with home repair projects, and drove the bus 14 route as well as the bus for sports teams for Salem Community Schools. He proudly served as Gibson Township Trustee from 1999-2018. On June 5, 1964 he married his grade school sweetheart, Paula Garriott and they enjoyed 58 years of life as husband and wife. They had four children, Jennifer (JD) Martin, Dave (Tracy) Weaver, Jeff (Amy) Weaver, and Christy (Tim) Henry. He is survived by his wife, children, eight grandchildren, Elizabeth and Kaitlinn Weaver, Carlie, Erin, and Nate Henry, and Ethan, Zane, and Trinity Weaver; and a sister-in-law, Carla Weaver. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, GH Weaver. The funeral will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at Mt. Hebron Church in Scottsburg, Indiana with Rodney Sweeney will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana and at the church before the service from 9:00 am until the time of service.
