David Wells, 76, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on September 8, 1947 in Scottsburg, Indiana, to the late William Benson Wells and Doris (Smith) Wells. David graduated from Scottsburg High School in the class of 1965. He married his high school sweetheart, Janet, on February 20,1966 at Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church. David retired from Scott County School District II after thirty-seven years of dedication. He was a member of Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church and Scottsburg Odd Fellows #555. He volunteered at the Scottsburg Fire Department starting in 1976 and retired in 2008. During those thirty-two years of service he was the acting Deputy Chief for ten years. David also worked with Habitat for Humanity Floyd County, Indiana, Henryville, Indiana, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. David is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judith Zollman; six brothers-in-law, Wayne Bright, LeRoy Hall, Philip Click, Robert Owens, Bill Roseberry, and Glen Zollman; and sister-in-law, Betty Roseberry. In addition to his wife of fifty-eight years, Janet, David is survived by two sons, Lonnie Wells of Crothersville, Indiana and Adam (Dawn) Wells of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Donna Hall and Billie Bright both of Scottsburg, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Holly (Eddie) Couch, Sara (Dexter) Igou, Benson (Megan) Wells, Nina (Amellio) Balderas, Danielle Wells, Noel Welch, Nathaniel Wells, and Natalie; nine great grandchildren, Cadin Igou, Lucas Igou, Nolan Igou, Raegen Balderas, Kennedy Balderas, Dallas Balderas, Adilyn Couch, Maxton Couch, and Nova Wells. Funeral will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 12:00pm at Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana and Monday prior to services at the church from 10am. Interment will follow at Kimberlin Creek Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana. Memorial donations can be made in David's name to Kosair Children's Hospital in c/o Collins Funeral Home.
