Delano Howard "Del" Berger, 84, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on July 1, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Stanley George Berger, Sr. and Bessie Ann (Manina) Berger. On April 26, 1958, Del married Phyllis Maxine (Tash) Berger, who preceded him in death on June 30, 2013 after 55 years together. Del was a retired pressman and forklift operator from the old Ben Franklin Company in Des Plaines, Illinois, where he worked for 31 years and a member of the old Alliance Bible Church in Crothersville, Indiana. He enjoyed collecting cups, pez dispensers, hat pins, key chains and match books. Del also made wind spinners in his spare time. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley George Berger, Jr. and two sisters, Ann Kolar and Delores Jirka. Survivors include three daughters, Margaret S. Senese of Austin, Indiana, Lisa Gushi (Donald J.) and Denise G. Berger all of Lexington, Indiana; three grandchildren, Joseph Paul Gushi (Gelaine), Timothy John Burns, Jr. and Cory Lynn Senese and six great grandchildren, Brynn Elizabeth, Autumn Rose, Everett James, Caleb and Adelainde Gushi and Waylon Burns and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Lewis officiating. Visitation: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate.
