Diana Lynn (Mays) Adams, age 72, of Cantonment, Florida, passed away at home on Thursday, August 10, 2023.
She was born in Scottsburg, Indiana on July 24, 1951, to Frank and Wanda Mays of Scottsburg, Indiana.
She was married to Stephen L. Adams for 21 years (married on 3/29/2002).
During her career she held various positions as a public servant with the Scott County Sheriff's Department, City of Scottsburg Police Department and the public school system. She was also a volunteer firefighter with the Johnson Township Fire Department. She was a member of West Side Baptist church in Salem, Indiana for many years. She was involved in 4H, Scott County Saddle Club and Scott County Sheriff's Posse where she participated in numerous parades. She loved horses since she was a child – her favorite books were My Friend Flicka and Black Beauty. Her favorite horse was her beloved quarter horse Gypsy. She also loved her dogs, Rudy and Tater. Family and friends were important to her - she loved to go to the Waffle House and chat with friends over a cup of coffee and talked to her sisters over the phone every day. Since she was a young child, she loved to be outside – especially fishing with her Daddy. Sitting on her porch was the first thing she did each morning. She was a good cook – her most requested recipes were for her cherry delight, cheeseball, and sweet potato casserole.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Frank and Wanda Mays, and her niece, Rebecca Churchman.
She is survived by her children Allan Meeks and Kristy Meeks; her grandchildren, Zachary Meeks, Brittany Meeks, Hali Metz and 2 great grandchildren; siblings: Sandra McClain, Frank William Mays (Peggy Mays), Beverly Schafer (David Schafer), and Frederick Mays (Sherry Mays) and many nieces and nephews. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and loved each and every one of them.
A celebration of life will be held at the Johnson Township Fire Department in Scottsburg, Indiana near Blocher after a graveside service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
