Obituary

Dolores C. Jewell, born May 1, 1932 in Lexington, Indiana, peacefully left us on September 4, 2025, at the age of 93. Dolores lived a full and vibrant life, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Dolores, a graduate of Scottsburg High School, married the love of her life, Hershell H. Jewell, on November 26, 1949. Together, they built a family rooted in love, faith, and strength. Throughout her earlier years, Dolores shared her boundless creativity as an employee at the Paris Style clothing store. She also made custom draperies that adorned the homes of many. Her artistic talents and unwavering dedication showcased her remarkable spirit.

A woman of deep faith, Dolores was a cherished member of the Safe Harbor Church of God, where she found solace and community. Her commitment to her beliefs inspired those around her and shaped her life's journey.

Dolores leaves behind a loving family, including her devoted sons, Stephen Jewell and his wife, Faye and Michael Jewell and his wife Teresa, Her grandchildren, Trenton Jewell, Codie Morris and Stephanie Stacy, her great-grandchildren, Abby Morris, Jared Lucas and Kendra Lucas, her half sister, Shelley Hall James as well as her niece, Lorraine Harding and nephews, Dan McClain and Frank McClain. Her legacy will be carried on by her family, who will forever remember her kindness, warmth, and nurturing spirit.

As we remember Dolores, we find comfort in the memories we hold and the lives she touched. May she rest in peace, knowing she leaves a legacy filled with love, faith, and inspiration.

Dolores embodied her Christian faith, and while we grieve, we rejoice in the knowledge that she is with her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. As Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:8, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
