Dorothea Jean (Wallace) Thompson was born on August 27, 1932, to the late Shirley Wallace and Nora (Guynn) Ellis. She passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, in Scottsburg, Indiana. Dorothea graduated from Lexington High School in Lexington, Indiana in 1954. She worked at the Dairy Bar in Scottsburg, Indiana and The Shoe Factory in Crothersville, Indiana. Dorothea retired from being a door greeter for many years at Scottsburg Walmart. She was remembered as "Mamaw Dorothea" to her grandchildren and was known for her love of coffee and having a sweet tooth. During her time at Hampton Oaks, she made many friends who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Wallace and Nora (Guynn) Ellis; two sisters, Elma Kay Moore and Donna Sue Fleenor; two brothers, Dale Campton and Eldon Ray Ellis; and a daughter, Diana Faye Wallace. She is survived by her son, Bobby Thompson of Scottsburg, Indiana; two granddaughters, Cassie Thompson of Scottsburg, Indiana, Olivia (Bryan) Butts of Henryville, Indiana; and five great-grandchildren, Emma, Oaklee, Maverick, Bo, and Everleigh. Dorothea will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend a thank you to the nurses at Hampton Oaks Health Campus in Scottsburg who cared for Dorothea. A Celebration of Life service will be announced and held at a later date. Cremation services have been entrusted to Collins Funeral Home of Scottsburg.
