Dorothy Bowling, 77, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on February 4, 1943 in Clay County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Dale and Meade Mae (Barger) Deaton. Dorothy was married on May 9, 1958 Edward Charles Bowling, who preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2018 after over 60 years together. She was a homemaker and a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church in Vienna, Indiana. Dorothy was a published author, enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting and playing Euchre. She was awarded Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion for her quilts at the Scott County Fair. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Collins and three brothers, James Robert, Buckie and Randy Deaton. Survivors include a son, Scott Bowling and wife Joyce of Scottsburg, Indiana; a daughter, Ginger D. Miranda and husband Victor of Georgetown, Kentucky; a son-in-law, Andrew Collins of Clarksville, Indiana; a sister, Sadie Bowling of Scottsburg, Indiana; three brothers, Marshall Deaton of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, David Deaton and wife Kathy and Raymond Deaton and wife Linda all of Scottsburg, Indiana; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Spurgeon Cemetery near Austin, Indiana.
