Dorothy West, 88, of Austin, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Scott Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 5, 1932 in Irvine, Kentucky, the daughter of the late George Plowman and Kate (Babb) Plowman. Dorothy was a former employee of the old Excello Shirt Factory in Seymour, Indiana and also had worked at Jay Packaging in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was a member of the House of Prayer in Austin, Indiana and enjoyed her flowers, gardening and was a great cook. Dorothy loved going shopping with her girls and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Millard West on Nov. 27, 2007; three sisters, Gladys Scenters, Armeda Neal and Catherine Riddell; three brothers, Mitchell, James and Ray Plowman and two half brothers, Clayborne and Ernest Plowman. Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Anderson (Freddy) and Doris Hollan (Eddie) all of Austin, Indiana and Eunice Dismore (Mike) of Uniontown, Indiana; a sister, Christine Winstead (Roy) of Ohio; five grandchildren, Kim Robbins (Joe), Millard Joe Anderson (Connie), Keith Anderson (Tabitha), Edward Hollan (Jiffy) and Brandon Hollan; eight great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Private funeral service for family only will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Waldon officiating. Visitation: 12 to 2 pm on Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home, open to the public and up to 25 visitors will be allowed in the funeral home at a time as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the visitation and face coverings for those attending is encouraged.
