Earnest Thomas, 83, of Jeffersonville, Indiana formerly of Lexington, Indiana passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023, with his loved ones by his side. He was born on February 29, 1940, in Dizney, Kentucky, the son of the late Floyd Thomas and Georgia (Presley) Blanton. On July 8, 1961, he married Joyce Ann Arbuckle Thomas, who passed away on April 3, 2017; they were married for fifty-five years. On June 30, 2018, he married Mary Joyce (Schafer) Thomas, who survives. He was a member of the Church of God Preparing for the Kingdom of God. Earnest always considered himself an outdoors man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Earnest also found a lot of enjoyment in shooting different types of guns and even making his own ammunition. In addition to his parents and first wife, Joyce Ann, Earnest is preceded in death by one son, Andrew Thomas. Survivors include wife, Mary Joyce Thomas of Jeffersonville, Indiana; son, Phillip (Tara) Thomas of Lexington, Indiana; two daughters, Kathy (Jeff) Swann of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Cindy Thomas-Summitt of Lexington, Indiana; sister, Vedis (Bill) Crisp of Indianapolis, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Olivia, Joseph, Victoria, Jack, Amelia, Mindy, Herbert, Ashley, Phillip, Shane; and Courtney; thirteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Funeral Service 12:00 Noon Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Saturday.
