Ecil Helton, 85, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Hampton Oaks Health Campus. He was born on October 22, 1934 in Perry County, Kentucky, the son of the late Frank Helton and Nellie (Oliver) Helton. Ecil was married to Vona Lea (Saline) Helton who preceded him in death on November 27, 2013. He was a retired laborer for the old Lucas Paving Company in Scottsburg, Indiana and served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army. Ecil enjoyed playing cards, going to the horse races, fishing and especially loved dancing with his wife. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Arthur Helton. Survivors include three daughters, Holly Jo Helton and her fiance' Johnny Sandlin of Scottsburg, Indiana, Kerry Gladstein (Brian Hunley) of Charlestown, Indiana and Linda Whicker of Fishers, Indiana; two sons, Terry Whicker (Shirley) of Gainesboro, Tennessee and Kevin Whicker (Rhona) of Lexington, Indiana; a brother, Frank Edward Helton (Jan) of Salem, Indiana; three sisters, Gladys Estep (George), Treva Woods (Mike) and Josephine Helton all of Scottsburg, Indiana; four grandchildren, Shad Whicker, Lindsey Denk, Jonathan Gladstein and Samantha Whicker; four great grandchildren, Brennan, Camden, Oliver and Nova. and four children he and Vona raised like their own, Martin, Bernard, Darin and Allena Hall.
