Edna (Stearns) North McKinney, 87, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on December 5, 2024, at Lake Pointe Village in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on August 10, 1937, in Nabb, Indiana, to Isaac Leon Stearns and Cecelia P. (Amick) Stearns. Edna graduated from Lexington High School in 1955. On December 23, 1955, Edna married Marvin "Fred" H. North, and he proceeds her in death on April 14, 1987. Edna spent a significant part of her professional life as a nurse's aide at the old Scott Memorial Hospital, where her deep care for others shone through in everything she did. She was a member of the daughters of the American Revolution (DNR) and the Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. A woman of many passions, Edna enjoyed solving puzzles in her spare time, cheering for the University of Louisville basketball team, and following the races of Jeff Gordon. Her laughter and enthusiasm will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents and late husband, Marvin, Edna is preceded in death by one son, Marvin Scott "Bouk" North. Edna is survived by her husband, Virgil "Mac" McKinney of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sons, Jerry (Jill Richey) North of Scottsburg, Indiana and David (Shirley) North of Scottsburg, Indiana; one stepdaughter, Jan (Mike) Blackburn of Burnettsville, Indiana; sister, Kay (Don) White; brother, Ike (Regina) Stearns; two grandchildren, James and Justin Clay; and two great grandchildren, Bayleigh and Leslie North. Funeral service for Edna McKinney will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 1:00pm at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be prior to the funeral on Tuesday, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Collins Funeral Home. Burial to follow the services at Kimberlin Creek Cemetery, in Scottsburg, Indiana.
