Obituary

Elisha Ellsworth "E.E." Lowry passed away after a brief illness, on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky at the age of 77. Born on December 30, 1942 in Scottsburg, Indiana, he was the son of the late Lowell L. Lowry, Sr. and Hazel M. (Sandlin) Lowry. E.E. attended the Alpha Baptist Church near Deputy, Indiana. After graduating from Scottsburg High School in 1961 he served in the US Army Reserves from 1964-1970. A lifelong resident of southern Indiana, E.E. resided in Madison for 44 years. He was employed by the Indiana Kentucky Electric Company in Madison, Indiana for many years. E.E. was active in his community and as an Indiana Freemason since 1973, he held a membership with the Schmidlap Lodge #408, in Kent, Indiana. He also was a 30-year member of The American Legion, a 29-year member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Scott County Lodge 2324, a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and a proud member of the NRA. Long known for his positive outlook on life and his sense of humor, E.E. enjoyed attending and watching NASCAR, playing golf, spending time with friends and family, collecting guns, coins and cars, attending car shows, as well as talking about, and working on cars. Survivors include his daughter, Phoebe Elisa Lowry James of Madison, Indiana; granddaughters, Helen G.C.W. James, Cerridwen I.R.W. James; sister, Patsy (Greg) Walker of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother, Lowell L. (Juanita) Lowry of Scottsburg, Indiana; nieces and nephews, Eric (Grace) Walker, Rachel Rodeghier (Chad Woodward); Paula Deemer; Darian Rodeghier, Drue Rodeghier, Kelsey Deemer, Andrew Deemer, Kylan Rodeghier; and many cousins. No funeral services will be held as it was E's wish that his estate be used for others, rather than himself. A celebration of life and a Big E's Garage benefit will occur August 15, 2020, 4:30-8:30 pm, at Red Bicycle Hall, 125 Main Street, Madison, Indiana.
