Elizabeth A. "Libby" Benham, 36, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, December 5, 2020. She was born on July 23, 1984 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Lee Benham and Jacqueline (Halcomb) Benham. Libby graduated from Scottsburg High School in 2003 with Honors. She then attended the University of Evansville on a Trustees scholarship. Libby only attended two years and then completed her degree at Indiana University Southeast and graduated with Honors. She began working for the Center for Women and Family part-time while in college at their shelter in New Albany. After graduation, she began working at the Louisville location as a Counselor and taught classes to police departments and other groups on abuse in the home. She also taught in the women's prison in the Louisville area. Libby was later located in Scott County until the center closed the Scottsburg site. She would also go to hospitals and council women after assaults at all times of the day and night. Even after no longer working for the center, Libby continued to help and counsel individuals who needed help in coping. She was a member of the Scottsburg First Christian Church and a 10 year 4-H member and enjoyed participating in many different projects throughout the years. Libby liked to read, do research and loved spending time with her family and friends. She had the most beautiful eyes and a smile that would brighten your day. Libby was a very caring person and loved helping people. Survivors include her two daughters, Evelynn "Evie" Warren and Gemma White of Scottsburg, Indiana and her parents, Lee and Jackie Benham of Scottsburg, Indiana. Cremation services were entrusted to Collins Funeral Home with a celebration of Libby's life to be planned at a later date.
