Ellen E. Brown, 92, of Scottsburg, Indiana, formerly of Salem, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Hickory Creek of Scottsburg. She was born on November 12, 1927 in Salem, Indiana, the daughter of the late Harold Brown and Mabel (Miller) Brown. Ellen attended school in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1945. She was a homemaker and had also worked as a cashier at the old Hook's Drug Store in Salem, Indiana. Ellen was a member of the Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church near Lexington, Indiana, where she was in the American Baptist Women's Group. She also was a former member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church in Salem, Indiana. Ellen was a former member of the Salem Eagles Club, loved her flower gardens and quilting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Scott Clem on Jan. 20, 1966 and then married her second husband, Leo Brown on Feb. 3, 1967 and he died on May 3, 1992; a son, Larry Clem and three brothers, Irvin, Donovan and Harold Brown, Jr. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Davis of Scottsburg, Indiana; a son, Steve Clem (Janice) of Jasper, Indiana; a brother, Carl Wayne Brown (Joyce) of Salem, Indiana; a sister, Carol Jane Campbell (Dwight) of Pekin, Indiana; six grandchildren, Julie Wilson (Greg), Kevin Clem, Timothy Alexander (Christie), Catherine Wagner (Richard), Joey Clark (Anthony) and SFC Daniel Clem (Amanda); eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be private and for immediate family only due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, CDC recommendations, State and Local government mandates and the families wishes. Services may be viewed on Collins Funeral Home's Facebook page at 2:00 pm on Wednesday. April 1, 2020. Cremation is requested following her services with burial at a later date Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem, Indiana.
