Elma Rae Porter, 80, of Underwood, IN passed away on July 22, 2024, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY with her family surrounding her. She was born on June 20, 1944, in Leatherwood, KY to the late Charlie Fugate and Opal Fugate. Elma married William "Bill" Porter on January 16, 1964, and he preceded her in death on August 19, 2015. She worked as a waitress at Ponderosa and the Scottsburg Seafood both here in Scottsburg, IN, enjoyed serving her community with a warm smile. Elma was a woman with a passion for fishing, playing Yahtzee, and tending to her garden filled with vibrant flowers and vegetables. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and cherished moments spent with her loved ones. In addition to her parents, mother in law, and husband, Bill, Elma is preceded in death by two sisters, Edith White and Viola Allen; one infant brother, Pryce Fugate; nine brothers in law, Kenneth White, Delbert White, David Combs, Tommy, Carlo, Jesse, Manuel, Taylor, and Samuel Porter; and six sisters in law, Janice Combs, Helen Campbell, Pauline Baker, Halla Mae Hutchinson and Billy Jean Ruff. Elma is survived by one daughter, Naomi (Eric) Petty of Henryville, IN; one son, Kevin (Jenny) Porter Underwood, IN; two sisters, Cassie Fugate and Glory White; one brother, Elijah (Judy) Fugate; three sisters in law, Thelma Sue (Eddie) Emery, Polly Ruth Strong, and Cathy Combs; two brothers in law, Ronald Combs and Donnie (Ruthie) Combs; and three grandchildren, Cyrus, Jesse, and Emma Petty. She loved all her nieces and nephew. Funeral Service for Elma Porter will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Collins Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Friday, July 26, 2024, starting at 9:00 am both at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg Indiana.
