Elvie Rice, 85, of Eaton, Ohio formerly of Lexington, Indiana passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Vancrest Healthcare in Eaton, Ohio. She was born on November 17, 1935 in Saul, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Sterling and Mae (Couch) Barger. On September 25, 1981 she married Denver Rice, who passed away on November 30, 2009. Elvie was of the Baptist Faith. She was a retired Environmental Worker for Kettering Hospital in Kettering, Ohio. In addition to her parents and husband Elvie was preceded in death by a daughter, Susie Parker and three brothers, Austin Barger, Winston Barger, and Shorty Barger. Survivors include daughter, Faye Madden of West Alexandra, Ohio; three Stepdaughters, Stephanie (Greg) Withered of Madison, Indiana, Sharon (Don) Thompson of Benton, Michigan, and Gaye Powell of Dayton, Ohio; stepson, Brian Rice of Lexington, Indiana; five sisters, Eva (Bill) Scott of Lexington, Indiana, Cinderella Roberts of Charlestown, Indiana, Minnie Pearl Sutton of Greenwood, Indiana, Felda Henry of Salem, Indiana, and Annie Sanders of Scottsburg, Indiana; three brothers, Taylor (Donna) Barger of Franklin, Indiana, Luckie Barger of Corydon, Indiana, and Willard (Linda) Barger of Underwood, Indiana; twelve grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral Service Saturday, October 30, 2021 1:00pm at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be Saturday prior to services from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
