Esther Marine (Conner) Murphy, 100 years young, of Martinsville, Indiana, formerly of Scottsburg, reposed in the Lord on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington, Indiana. Esther was born on February 27, 1920 in Osco, Kentucky, the daughter of the late George Willie Conner and Laura (Bell) Conner. Esther was married to Ola Earl Murphy, who preceded her in death on May 24, 1992. Esther was a wonderful and much-loved elementary teacher for Scott County School District II in Scottsburg, Indiana, retiring in 1982. She was a member of All Saints Orthodox Church in Bloomington, Indiana. Survivors include two sons, (The V. Rev.) Gregory Wade Murphy and wife Suzanne of Geneva, New York; and Tony Brent Murphy and wife Jean of Portland, Oregon. She is also survived by a brother, Armond Conner of Bloomington, Illinois; and two sisters, Arlena Woodall of Martinsville, Indiana, and Ozena Matney of Greensburg, Kentucky; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Herlan, Norman, Herbert, Raymond, and Willie Jay Conner, Jr.; and five sisters, Magdalene Woodall, Ada Glazebrook, Ina Snow, Connie Cottrell and Nellie Laura. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly. Services will be private due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, CDC recommendations, State and Local government mandates and the family's wishes. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.
