Evelyn G. Brown, 88, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at her home. She was born on December 14, 1934, in Pinhook, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charles Ora Clampitt and Oma Blanche (Umphress) Clampitt. Evelyn was a member of the First Christian Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. She graduated from Scottsburg High School with the class of 1953. Evelyn enjoyed watching game shows and playing board games. On December 11, 1956, she married Claud Brown in Jeffersonville, Indiana, who preceded her in death in 2005. In addition to her husband and parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Dianne Waggoner; son-in-law, Thomas Nathan Stone; and five brothers, Harvey Clampitt, Donald Clampitt, James Clampitt, Charles Jr. Clampitt, and Herbert Clinton Clampitt. Survivors include three daughters, Lynette (John) Roberts of Scottsburg, Indiana, Deborah Stone of Scottsburg, Indiana, and Marla (Paul) Burton of Jamestown, Tennessee; son, Michael (Joetta) Brown of Borden, Indiana; two sisters, Alice Vernon of Michigan City, Indiana and Ellen Gillogly of Largo, Florida; and son-in-law John Waggoner. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Aleta (Bryan) Hepp, Amanda (Jason) Roberts-Bagwell, John K. Waggoner II, Scott Burton, Thomas Waggoner, Brian (Sarah) Roberts, Mary Louise (William Evans) Stone, William Ray Stone, Paul Jr. Cooper, Kristen (Devon) Stidham, Lauren Kaiser-Brown, Jessica Brown, and John Claud Michael Brown; and great grandchildren, Noah Bagwell, Raelynn Roberts, Serenity Brown-Hepp, Colten, Damon, and Lincoln Cooper, Mia and Rylan Stidham, Xavier, Shannon, Noah, Vincent Michael, and Donald Hepp. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Thursday, October 26,2023 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Jason Bagwell officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Thursday. Interment to follow at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Indiana.
