Floyd E. "Shorty" Barger, 85, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Scott Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 19, 1934 in Hazard, Kentucky, the son of the late Sterling and Mae (Couch) Barger. Shorty was a retired laborer and had worked at the old Craven's Tire Mart, Scott County Tire and Elliott's Auto. He enjoyed working and restoring old trucks, playing guitar and loved music. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Lana (Robinson) Barger; a daughter, Amber Righthouse of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sons, Shawn Barger of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Bryan Barger of Salem, Indiana; six sisters, Elvie Rice of Dayton, Ohio, Eva Scott, Cinderella Roberts and Annie Jewell Sanders all of Scottsburg, Indiana, Minnie Pearl Sutton of Greenwood, Indiana and Felda Henry of Salem, Indiana; three brothers, Taylor Barger of Franklin, Indiana, Luckie and Willard Barger both of Underwood, Indiana; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Shorty was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Ann Montgomery and two brothers, Austin and Winston Barger, Sr. Private graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Scottsburg Cemetery. Visitation will also be private due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and CDC recommendations. Memorial Contributions may be given to Collins Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses.
