Gary Lynn Burns

Gary Lynn Burns, a lifelong resident of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the age of 60 with his family by his side. Born on February 11, 1966 to Steve and Mickey Burns, Gary spent his life in the small community where he loved the outdoors and country life. He was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, who cared deeply for his family.

Gary was an avid still board competitive shooter and enjoyed sharing his passion with his grandsons, nephews, and father. He loved NASCAR, fishing and collecting Hot Wheels. Gary also loved his dogs and cats and cherished the unconditional love of the many pets throughout his life. He was employed by Cerro Wire in Crothersville, Indiana, where he excelled for 22 years, rarely missing work.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Mickey Burns. He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Stevenson and Jessica Rice, son Michael Rice, his brother Russell Burns, niece Tiffany Martyn, nephews Brad, Derek and Steven Burns, eight grandchildren Maddox Dean, Jacob Rice, Codi Dean, Jeremiah Clay, Jonathan Rice, Jacquelynn Rice, Joshua Rice and Aden Stevenson.

There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 4-7pm at Collins Funeral Home. Service will be on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 11am with more visitation before from 9-11am. Burial will follow at Scottsburg Cemetery.
