Obituary

Gene Hoke, 88, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on June 15, 1932 in Louisville, Missouri, the son of the late Jess Hoke and Geneva (Spencer) Hoke. Gene graduated from Louisville High School in Louisville, Illinois and then earned a Bachelors Degree from the Lincoln Bible Institute. He was a retired engineer for Chrysler Motor Company in Kokomo, Indiana and a member of the Scottsburg First Christian Church. Gene loved to oil paint landscapes and always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia D. Hoke on May 6, 2011 and a sister, Donna Ruckman. Survivors include his wife, Cleo Lee-Hoke; two sons, Dr. David G. (Gayanne) Hoke of Florissant, Missouri and Pastor Michael D. (JuLee) Hoke of Indianapolis, Indiana; a daughter, Pamela D. (Andy) Amick of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Joyce Johnson of Lecanto, Florida and Shirley (Ronald) Coleman of Clay City, Illinois; six grandchildren, Frank, Nicholas (Jessica) and Patrick (Rebecca) Myszak, Joshua Hoke, AshLee Willhite (J.R.) and Caleb (Elise) Hoke and nine great grandchildren, Isabella, Chloe, Abigail, Bryce, Hudson, Dalia, Piper and Amelia Myszak and Athena Hoke. Private graveside services were held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Scottsburg Cemetery with Pastor Mike Hoke and Dr. David Hoke officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Christian Church c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
