Gloria Jean Nichols, 93, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Hampton Oaks Health Campus. She was born on March 1, 1928 in Seymour, Indiana, the daughter of the late Herbert F. Harper and Lottie May (Harding) Harper. Jean graduated from Seymour High School. She was married on Sept. 15, 1957 to Mack Nichols, Jr. who preceded her in death on February 25, 2017. Jean was a retired secretary of the payroll department at the old Arvins Industries in Seymour, Indiana and also retired from Farm Bureau Insurance in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scottsburg, Indiana and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Thompson and Patricia Dixon and two brothers, Glen and Marvin Harper. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Gina Nichols of Scottsburg, Indiana; two grandchildren, Jay Nichols (Alexis Barber) and Juliet Nichols (Dustin Yocum) and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: 1:30 pm on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Sills officiating. Funeral services may also be viewed by the public on Collins Funeral Home's Facebook page at 1:30 pm on Tuesday. Visitation: 11:00 am to 1:30 pm on Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed and will be limited to 50 people in the building. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.
