Gwendolyn B. "Gwen" Ray, 88, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Lake Pointe Villa in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on January 12, 1935 in Celina, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Audie Hermas Borden and Ola Madelyn (Mullinix) Borden. On November 1, 1952 she married Melvin Ray, who survives. She attended the First Christian Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. Gwen loved a good crossword puzzle, she did them almost daily. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed watching Jeopardy. Gwen's true passion in life was being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Rue, Ralph, Bill, and Audie Merle "Jr" Borden; three sisters, Ann Whitaker, Virginia Munden, and Betty McFarland; and one grandchild, Michael Lee "Mikey" Owens. In addition to her husband, Melvin, Gwen is survived by son, Kenny Ray of Scottsburg, Indiana; three daughters, Jo Lord of Scottsburg, Indiana, Patti (Roger) Case of Nabb, Indiana, and Kathy Ray of Chattanooga, Tennessee; two sisters, Madelyn Claiborne of Gallatin, Tennessee and Della Ayers of Gallatin, Tennessee; five grandchildren, James Hall, Lacey Gwen Lord, Jordan, Jesse, and Savanna Ray; one great grandchild, Roger Melvin Ray. Funeral Service 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Matthew Craig officiating. Visitation: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Wednesday at Collins Funeral Home.
