Obituary

H. Edward "Ed" Calloway, a beloved entrepreneur and cherished family man, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born on May 15, 1941 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Eugene Luther and Ruby Glen Hoke Calloway.

A proud graduate of Scottsburg High School, class of 1959, Ed went on to shape the business landscape of Southern Indiana. Alongside his devoted wife, he co-owned several successful enterprises, including Calloway Oil Company, Inc., Calloway Packaging, Business Services, Inc., and notable establishments like E & J Truck Stop and Burger Queen of Austin. His entrepreneurial spirit also led to the founding of Calloway Homes, Inc., and Southern Indiana Marine, a top ten Ranger boat dealership-an endeavor that brought joy to countless boating enthusiasts.

Ed was deeply connected to his faith and was a devoted member of the First Christian Church of Scottsburg. His compassion extended beyond business; he was a loving father to his son, Gene Calloway and his wife, Kim, and daughter, Mitzi Coffey and her husband, Mark, a brother to Mary Calloway Marshall and her husband, Clifton, a companion to Judy Smith, a grandfather to Madyson Calloway, Samantha Loseman and her husband, Tim, Kameron, Kaden and Kyle Mace, Emily Burris and Nick Coffey and his wife Tiffini as well as six great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ed's legacy of hard work and family values will live on through them and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty Jean Calloway and his brother, Robert Calloway.

In his leisure time, Ed found solace in the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and boater, and he loved playing golf, traveling, and camping. His zest for life and love of nature enriched the lives of everyone around him, making him a beloved figure in his community.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones for visitation from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Collins Funeral Home and from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm, Thursday at First Christian Church. The family invites all who knew and loved Ed to join in remembering a remarkable man whose spirit will forever shine in the hearts of those he touched.
