Harley Blanton, 91, of Austin, Indiana passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on February 5, 1932 in Layman, Kentucky to the late John Blanton and Pearl (Aker) Blanton-Saylor. Harley was a retired welder and machine shop employee for Morgan Foods in Austin, Indiana where he worked for 22 years. Before going to Morgan's, Harley worked for Arvin Industries in Seymour, Indiana for 24 years until they closed. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. Harley liked to play his guitar, visiting with people, was an avid UK fan and especially spending time with his family. On October 25, 1952 he married Sarah (Deaton) Blanton, who passed away in 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, McKinley and Alonzo Brock and Charles John Blanton; a sister, Mildred (Brock) Saylor. He is survived by his three sons; John (Willa) Blanton of Austin, Indiana; Jim (Diana) Blanton of Scottsburg, Indiana; and Jerry (Susan) Blanton of Woodstock, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Blanton, Chris Garten (Beth), Brian Blanton (Michaela), Jordan Blanton (Alissa), Jarrod and Kylie Blanton and Laura Barrett Montano; and four great grandchildren, Madison, Hayden, Hudson and Greyson. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Collins Funeral Home with Phil LaMaster officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 and after 10 am on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Collins Funeral Home. Interment at New Providence Cemetery in Austin, Indiana. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Refuge c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
