Hubert "Herb" Harlan Ashley, Jr., 82, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at his residence. He was born on December 28, 1938 in Owensboro, Kentucky, the son of the late Hubert Harlan Ashley, Sr. and Helen Lorraine (Reeves) Ashley. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. Hubert attended University of Louisville and Bellarmine University for Business Law. After serving his country in the United Stated Air Force, he worked for his family owned business at the Scottsburg Foundry and then owned the Ashley Foundry in Crothersville, Indiana totaling over 50 years as a Foundryman. He became an ordained Baptist Deacon in 1968 and was a member of the Scaffold Lick Baptist Church for over 40 years. On September 16, 1960 he married Barbara Lee (Whitledge) Ashley, who passed away June 29, 2020. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael H. Ashley; and brother, William Lee Ashley. Survivors include two sons, Bobby (Alicia) Ashley of Scottsburg, Indiana and John (Peggy) Ashley of Scottsburg, Indiana; three daughters, Theresa Miller of Scottsburg, Indiana, Kristi Polson of Sellersburg, Indiana, and Becki (Mickey) Hall of Scottsburg, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Lorna Johnson, Chelsea Law, Mikael, Shelbi and Emily McLemore, Mickey L. Hall, Jr., Caitelynn Ashley, Chance Miller, Baylee, Jayla, and Johnathan Ashley; and eight great grandchildren, Jordan and Brycen Johnson, Violet Vires, Chloe, Brayden and Charlie Law, Jade McLemore and Brooklynn Floyd. Hubert enjoyed classic street cars, concerts and any activities his children and grandchildren participated in and was a basketball and cross country coach for several years in the local area. He was a true family man and a lifelong U of L Cardinals fan. Funeral Service: 10:30 am Friday, December 31, 2021 at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Perkins & Rev. David Culley officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday and after 9:00 am Friday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Interment will be at Scottsburg Cemetery, Scottsburg Indiana.
